Hot pursuit! 1970 Ford Galaxie police car
James Bond films remain universally popular, especially those starring Sean Connery. One reason for this is the use of vehicles in a variety of set piece car chases and stunts. Model-wise, if a manufacturer has a Bond-related vehicle in its range, regardless of the film in which it appeared, they are generally on to a winner. This new for 2020 AMT 1:25 scale model kit from Round 2 Models is, inevitably, a revamp of an earlier release with new parts and box art. It represents one of the two-tone blue and white 1970 Ford Galaxie police cars that chase Bond in Tiffany Case's red 1971 Mach I Mustang fastback, through the streets of Las Vegas.
Several Ford Custom 500 police cars were crashed in a car park and Ford cars featured prominently throughout the film. The kit is relatively simple and of traditional assembly, with a body moulded in blue, a floor/chassis and an interior tub. The bonnet opens to reveal a big-block V8. It contains a detailed roof-mounted light bar, police radio and optional push bar, steel wheels with 'dog dish' chromed caps. There's a large and colourful decal sheet as well. As a new release, availability is sketchy and prices could vary enormously, but if you choose to import, watch out for the postage, VAT and customs charges! The Mustang, similarly re-boxed, is due for release soon.
